Things to do - A complete destination, a great adventure

Stratosphere Cave
The Stratosphere cave is known as an introduction to wild caves. The cave was only partially developed and then closed in the 1940's and was not reopened until 2005. During that time a few paths were put in and a couple of hand lines. A guide will supply you with helmets and lights before you enter the cave for a one hour trip.

Stratosphere is the oldest recorded cave in the state of WV. It was originally called Asburys Cave after a bishop named Francis Asbury in the 1760's. His journal notes can still be found in the library of congress.

Stratosphere is a more strenuous cave then Seneca with 2 steep 45 degree slopes. Plan to wear good shoes and long pants, and you must be at least 13 to enter.
